My last post was about how to configure  the adapter settings for CRM

Today configure the settings for Dynamics NAV 2009.

(Note: It doesn’t matter if you are using a local demo instance of NAV or a real production environment. )

Before going I should remind you that my connection is based on a NAV 2009 SP1 database, and a R2 client/server. Of course this is not what our recommendations should be, but I want to know if it is possible using the connector with SP1. And yes it is.

Before going on  we have to setup the SP1 database.

Preparation SP1 database

1. Open a NAV 2009 R2 demo database from the product cd.
2. Move on into the object designer

Setting up NAV means to activate the connector. This will run a codeunit (Integration Management) and setup some new web services in the web service table ( one codeunit and a lot of pages)



So our goal is to have the same functionality in SP1!

Note: you don’t have to import this objects if your are working with a NAV 2009 R2 database

3. Import or Merge the table 5079 Marketing Setup into your SP1 database (you will need this because there is a new field called “enable connector” which activates the services.)

4. Import these objects into your SP 1 database



5. Compile all these objects to be sure there is nothing you have forgotten.

6. Start table 5079 Marketing Setup and enable the connector.



7. RESTART! the NAV service AND the NAV web service service.

8. Navigate to your web service URL (if you don’t know where it is take a look into the event log – there you can see the URL the web service service is running) and be sure you can access it.



Access this URL and services is the primary requirement before moving on configuring the adapter settings.

Attention: The different web services accessing pages from Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2. To have the complete functionality you need to merge these pages to into your SP1 database too (for example: the contact card includes now the first name and last name field in R2!!)

9. Start your Microsoft Dynamics NAV Connector

10. Select the adapter settings

11. Select Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009

12. Setup the the Domain NAV 2009 is using

13. Setup the integration account  username and password (if you are working with a real production environment setup a new service account in active directory )

14. Setup the URL you have use before accessing the web services

15. Test Settings



16. Configure Microsoft Dynamics NAV



17. Setup the connection information and select your organization you want to integrate. Your are also able to setup the tables which you want to integrate (Note: more information regarding security  and setup user accounts you can find in the connector manual)



18. Click Finish – your are now ready to move on activate the maps
